James is the son of Richard and Sally Continenza of Eastlake.

He was a writer/co-editor of the school newspaper "The Ink Blot" and a member of the school show choir. He played electric and double bass in the jazz band, Juvenile Jazz, which he founded with his cousin. Outside of school, he studies history.

He plans to attend Purdue University and study aerospace/aeronautical engineering. His goal is to design, build and fly his own airplanes.
